Steinbuck

The Steinbuck (Raphicerus campestris)

It is also referred to locally as the steenbok or steinbok.

Steinbuck are petite and dainty antelope standing just 20” to the shoulder and weighing just 10 to 16 Kg. It is common throughout southern and eastern Africa. Typically solitary animals, only the males carry horns which can reach over 20 cm on a large buck, the females are usually slightly smaller. They occur in many habitats from low veldt to mountains and like thick cover and grasses.
